Program details

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation program has numerous components, which include but are not limited to the following:

•Education sessions discussing breathing techniques, disease processes, respiratory medications, oxygen therapy, exercise techniques
•Exercise reconditioning sessions
•Oxygen dosing (when appropriate)
•Nutrition education session
•Energy conservation techniques
•Individualized session to go over results of tests, program recommendations, exercise prescription, and to respond to questions
•Recommendations to physicians of any changes or additional tests deemed necessary, such as oxygen therapy, overnight oximetry, ABGs, medication changes

The typical length of a pulmonary rehabilitation program is 4 to 6 weeks, but for patients who aren't able to commit to that length of stay, we offer individual appointments. We can assist these patients in identifying a health care facility near their homes where they can complete a comprehensive pulmonary rehabilitation program. Local facilities may be provided with specific guidelines for a patient. We also require that facilities provide us with summaries of a patient's progress on a regular basis.

At Salam Clinic patients have the confidence and knowledge that comes from knowing their physicians are providing treatment options based on the very latest developments in medical science and technology.
